What is the Neil Boyer Band Festival?

The Phillipsburg High School Band and Band Boosters present The Neil Boyer American Heritage Festival of Bands, featuring high school marching bands from throughout the region. This festival has taken place since 1972, and in 2006, the Phillipsburg School District officially approved changing the name to the “Neil Boyer Band Festival”. Mr. Boyer retired from the district after serving 35 years of teaching Instrumental Music and directing the marching band. He was also the creator of the initial Phillipsburg High School Festival of Bands.

The performances that are on display are the culmination of countless hours of practice by the students, and illustrate the creativity and commitment to excellence by the band directors and assistants. At Phillipsburg, these same principles of hard work and dedication apply to our marching band led by Mr. Adam Josephson. The philosophy of the Festival is to adjudicate bands against a standard of achievement rather than against each other. The standards of achievements are actually determined by the participating bands themselves.

Fundraising

Each student member has a "Student Allocated Fund". One way to increase the amount in their Student Allocated Fund is to participate in our fundraising opportunities. If you would like to participate in fundraising activities, please contacfundraisers@phillipsburgband.com

Fundraisers have different amounts available toward your student's allocated fund. Parents can also earn money towards their student’s allocated fund by selling football programs, working the parking lot during football games, or by working some concession stand opportunities. Note: Chaperoning does not add money to your student's allocated fund.

Upon joining the band, each member uses their Student ID number to find the balance in his/her allocated fund in the CHARMS system. If you have any questions, please send an email to
studentaccts@phillipsburgband.com or by talking to the Band Boosters Treasurer.
